Creating an intuitive virtual experience for Unilever

During campus recruitment season, many companies look to attract and recruit top talent from China’s most prestigious universities. Unilever is no different. Campus recruitment gives you the right environment and opportunity to promote your Employee Value Proposition (EVP) and get up close and personal with the right graduates.

However, with around 7 million university graduates a year in China alone, not all of them will attend the recruitment campuses. So is there a way to reach out to those graduates and give them a comprehensive understanding of your company in a cost-effective way? Unilever approached Maximum to find out.

Approach

Unilever’s recruitment tagline is ‘Great Journey Made by You’. With this in mind, Maximum created something that would go hand in hand. And that is how ‘One Day at Unilever’ was born – a virtual tour that takes students on a journey to personally experience a day at the world’s largest FMCG company in the comfort of their homes.

 

To create the ‘One Day at Unilever’ virtual tour, a lot of data was collected and stitched together to reflect a typical day at Unilever. This included writing scripts, drawing storyboards, taking over 8,300 photos and shooting videos in 31 different Unilever locations. Once ready, the virtual tour was embedded within Unilever’s career website. Maximum then drove graduates to take the tour through creative media strategy and execution.

Within the rich, interactive content of the immersive tour, students can play fun games, including one with motion sensor, and collect icons to win fabulous prizes. What’s more, as the students learn about the things Unilever offers in a career, they could share their experience on social media to attract even more talent to take part. 

Results

The ‘One Day at Unilever’ virtual tour has received an overwhelming response since its launch. After only six months, the virtual tour was accessed over 62,000 times and attracted more than 49,000 unique visitors with over 28,000 people successfully registering their interest in a career with Unilever.
